52 weekly walks in Toronto: Weekend of January 24-25, 2015

WALKS INTO ANOTHER WORLD (Jan. 24-25)

Ward's Island Dreamy Stroll
Stroll #27 in Toronto Urban Strolls 1
Why? The Rectory Café is open during the winter, when it feels like we have the whole island all to ourself.

See more photos below.

WALKS INTO ANOTHER WORLD (Jan. 17-18)

Islington Village Murals Stroll
Why? Over twenty gorgeous murals lighten up this short walk in an otherwise unassuming neighbourhood. They're so pretty, they will make you forget the cold (located along Dundas West, west of Islington).

WALKS INTO ANOTHER WORLD (Jan. 10-11)

The Beach Soothing Stroll
Stroll #12 in Toronto Urban Strolls 2
Why? This offers a unique panorama, where you can watch the sun rise over the lake. Then, you can have coffee and honey balls at Athens Pastries, usually open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Note that many trees are lit up until mid-February along the boardwalk, part of the DeClute Light up the Beach event (see details with a photo gallery from our last visit end of december 2014).

WALKS INTO ANOTHER WORLD (Dec. 27-28)

Lake Shore Land of the Giants Stroll
Why? This is the perfect walk to consider if you want to go to Ripley’s Aquarium’s. And if you find the aquarium’s line-up is too much, it will be a nice Plan B while you’re in the neighbourhood. There are many interesting urban sights to be seen all around, including the perfect restaurant with fire pit, serving warm wine. (See my photo gallery from last year.)

Why? It includes the wonderful Christmas decorations at the Bay and Eaton Centre to be admired even on December 25th, and the cute outdoor rink at Ryerson, off Yonge-Dundas Square.
